Aboard Queen Anne: Kayleigh's First Cruise Conference Experience with Cunard
22nd October 2026
Last week, I attended a cruise conference on board Cunard’s Queen Anne. Here’s what I learnt and experienced!
Upon arriving at Ocean Terminal in Southampton, we headed straight to the short-stay car park to drop off our car with Cruise Azure Parking. This was easy and stress-free. We simply drove into one of the drop-off spaces next to the blue Cruise Azure flag, handed the keys to a member of staff and walked over to the bag drop at the terminal. After making our way through security, we boarded the ship, scanned in at our muster station and headed to our room. We were lucky enough to have a balcony cabin, which I would highly recommend. The balcony provides a lovely space to relax and watch the ship sail in and out of port.
A major highlight of cruising with Cunard is the amazing food! After unpacking on the first day, we headed to the Artisans food hall for lunch. Queen Anne’s relaxed, buffet-style restaurant quickly became our go-to lunch spot for the entire cruise, thanks to its great selection. There was a huge variety of hot and cold food, including sandwiches, pizza, a carving station with meats, fish and chips, and build-your-own salad and pasta bowls. Although it was buffet-style, all food stations were manned by individual chefs who served the food rather than guests helping themselves. For breakfast, we had something different every day. On the first day, we headed to the Artisans food hall, where we had been having lunch. As at lunchtime, there was a great range of hot and cold breakfast options, most of which were made to order by the chefs at each station. On the second day, we visited the Britannia main dining restaurant. There was a range of continental options, such as croissants and cereals, as well as sweet and savoury cooked options, including pancakes. I opted for the avocado and poached eggs on toast, which was amazing! On our third day, we went for something a little different and ordered a sunrise breakfast in bed! Using the pre-order form in the cabin the night before, we selected what we wanted and what time we wanted it delivered. My top tip is to try the hot chocolate! Having breakfast in our cabin allowed us to watch the sunrise from the balcony as we sailed into port, wearing our super-soft robes and slippers. For our evening meals, we had a group reservation at the Britannia main dining restaurant. The three-course dinners featured a rotating menu, meaning there was always something different to try, while a few favourites remained available each night for fussy eaters. Every meal here was outstanding! My favourites were the chateaubriand and the belly pork. Another top tip is to head back to the Artisans food hall after the evening entertainment for late-night snacks! This was so handy after dancing the night away at the silent disco.
There truly is a cruise for everyone! Whether it’s a mini cruise from Southampton or a 126-night world cruise, there are so many options to choose from.
The entertainment on board had something for everyone! During our sailing, the evening performances in the main theatre included Pure Soul, a group of singers who had everyone up on their feet; Let’s Dance, a performance by the onboard company; Fisherman’s Friends, who need no introduction if you’ve seen the film; and a performance combining classical music and stand-up comedy by Kev Orkian. As well as the main theatre shows, there was also lots of entertainment throughout the ship. From daytime dance classes and quizzes to evening silent discos and laid-back folk bands, there really was something for everyone! We also attended the Fizz! immersive show at the Bright Lights Society. This was a more intimate performance where the audience became part of the show. From the moment you walked through the doors, the characters greeted and involved you in the performance. This was a highlight and a show I would definitely recommend!
On the final day, it was sadly time to leave, and disembarkation was just as easy as embarkation. Luggage labels were placed in our room the day before disembarkation, ready for collection that night. Alternatively, you could opt for self-disembarkation, where you take your own luggage off the ship. The whole process was very well organised, and we were allocated a disembarkation time slot. After leaving the ship, we headed back to the car park, where our car was ready and waiting in the Cruise Azure drop-off zone. There was no waiting for car park transfers or queuing for taxis; we simply collected the keys and drove away within a few minutes. My first cruise conference was a great experience, and I learnt so much! I would highly recommend sailing on Queen Anne before she leaves the fleet in 2029, and I look forward to helping customers using my newfound cruise knowledge!
