Itinerary
✓ Day 1: UK to Lisbon, Portugal
Travel to Lisbon where you will stay three nights at a centrally located hotel.
✓ Day 2: Lisbon, Portugal
Discover this historic city on an included morning tour.
✓ Day 3: Lisbon, Portugal
At leisure.
✓ Day 4: Lisbon to Oporto
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Oporto, stopping at the historic city of Coimbra for an orientation walk and lunch en route. Embark Douro Serenity later this afternoon.
✓ Day 5: Oporto to Regua to Pinhao
Spend the morning cruising, arriving in Régua in the afternoon. Enjoy a visit to Mateus Palace and its gardens. Rejoin your ship in Régua and sail to Pinhão for an overnight mooring.
✓ Day 6: Pinhao, Portugal
Enjoy the morning at leisure in Pinhão. This afternoon an included excursion visits Favaios in the Douro Valley for an included visit to Favaios Winery.
✓ Day 7: Pinhao to Pochino to Barca d'Alva
The ship will pause briefly in Pocinho and from here you will join an included excursion to the civil parish of Castelo Rodrigo. Rejoin your ship in Barca d’Alva later this afternoon.
✓ Day 8: Barca d'Alva to Pochino
Join an included excursion across the border to the city of Salamanca in Spain. The journey here usually takes about two hours, during which your guide will give a commentary about the passing scenery. Then, join a walking tour with a local guide to the Plaza Mayor, one of the finest town squares in Spain. Back on board Douro Serenity, sit down to a traditional Portuguese dinner.
✓ Day 9: Pochino to Regua
After a relaxing morning on board Douro Serenity arrive in Régua and travel by coach for an included excursion to Lamego, one of the most attractive cities in Portugal. Rejoin your ship, and continue your cruise to Porto Antigo, arriving later this evening for an overnight mooring.
✓ Day 10: Oporto
Discover the history of Portugal’s second-largest city on an included tour. In the afternoon enjoy a coach tour of Oporto and walk to a local wine cellar. Your ship remains moored overnight.
✓ Day 11: Oporto to UK
Disembark Douro Serenity after breakfast and begin your return journey.

Douro Serenity
Different to our purpose-built boutique ships, Douro Serenity is an existing built ship used exclusively by Saga, and this smaller ship is the ideal way to explore the Portuguese waterways.
Cruise the River Douro, passing wine-producing estates and vine-covered terraces, from the comfort of Douro Serenity, a ship that is reserved exclusively for our guests.
Along the way a variety of excursions provide the opportunity to stop and explore local towns, visit historic churches and sample delicious local produce.

With Saga, your holiday starts a few hours earlier.
Your own private chauffeur will pick you up from your door, so you can sit back and relax. They'll be there to meet you when you return to the UK, too.
Room Facilities
All cabin categories have an ensuite with a shower, air-conditioning, a hair-dryer, a safe and TV. Each room has windows that offer views of Portugal. Upper and Main decks have floor-to-ceiling windows that slide down to create a French-style Balcony allowing you to fully absorb the surroundings and the fresh air of the Douro River.

There's never a dull moment on the MS Douro Serenity as we present an enthralling range of onboard entertainment. A fascinating Portuguese folk music show, a riveting history lesson, and evenings overflowing with wine, song and dance are just some of the delights we have lined up for you.
Relax beside the onboard pool located on the sun deck of your ship. Visit the main lounge and bar with panoramic views and unwind after a day of exploring Portugal before heading to your air-conditioned suite or cabin for an afternoon siesta.
Food and Drink
You'll enjoy a selection of wine, beer, fruit juice and soft drinks to accompany both lunch and dinner. A range of delicious Portuguese, Mediterranean and international flavoured meals will be served in the main lounge. Each night you will indulge in four-course dinners. Buffet style breakfasts and lunches will be served daily as well as complimentary tea and coffee which is always available for you to enjoy.
