Embark on an unforgettable self-drive adventure through Western Canada, beginning with a flight from the UK to Calgary. Upon arrival, pick up your hire car and head straight for the majestic Rocky Mountains, spending your first few days exploring the alpine charm of Banff and its stunning national park. From there, drive along the world-famous Icefields Parkway to Jasper, stopping at the incredible Columbia Icefield en route. Enjoy a full day in Jasper, where you might spot the resident elk herd grazing near town. Continue your journey along the Yellowhead Highway, past towering Mt. Robson, and stop in Blue River for a thrilling River Safari in search of black bears. Travel through ever-changing landscapes as you make your way to Whistler, then on to the coast, driving the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway before crossing by ferry to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Explore the island’s rugged interior on your way to Ucluelet, stopping at Cathedral Grove to walk among ancient Douglas fir trees. Head south to Victoria, where you can enjoy panoramic views from the Malahat Skywalk and spend time exploring British Columbia’s charming capital. Finish your journey in the vibrant city of Vancouver, with a visit to the world-renowned Butchart Gardens along the way, before catching your flight home after an epic 16-day journey through some of Canada’s most breathtaking scenery.

Itinerary

Days 1-3: UK - Calgary - Banff

Travel from the UK and arrive at Calgary Airport, where you’ll pick up your hire car and head straight for the mountains! You have two full days to explore the charming mountain town of Banff and the surrounding national park.

Day 4: Banff - Jasper

Travel from Banff to Jasper on one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway, before arriving at the Colombia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle.

Day 5: Jasper

Today you have a free day in Jasper to explore. Look out for wildlife, Jasper is known for the herd of Elk that graze on the outskirts of town.

Day 6: Jasper - Clearwater

Follow the Yellowhead Highway as it takes you through the mountains, past Mt. Robson, the tallest peak in the Canadian Rockies, and make a stop in Blue River to join a River Safari in search of resident black bear.

Days 7-8: Clearwater - Whistler

Leave the semi-arid rolling hills behind and enter the Coast Mountain range. Be amazed by the spectacular scenery on the way to Whistler.

Day 9: Whistler - Nanaimo

Drive the famous Sea-to-Sky Highway, a stunning drive with the soaring Coastal Mountains on one side and the blue waters of Howe Sound on the other. Catch the ferry from Horseshoe Bay over to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

Days 10-11: Nanaimo - Ucluelet

Journey across stunning mountainous interior of Vancouver Island to Ucluelet. Stop along the way at Cathedral Grove for a stroll amongst giant Douglas fir trees.

Days 12-13: Ucluelet - Victoria

Head down to Victoria, stopping at the Malahat Skywalk for stunning panoramas over sea inlets. The next day is free to explore Victoria, British Colombia’s capital city.

Days 14-15: Victoria - Vancouver

Visit Butchart Gardens then catch the ferry back to the mainland, with the next day free to explore the enchanting coastal city of Vancouver.

Day 16: Vancouver - UK

Your Western Canada adventure has come to an end. Transfer independently to the airport for your flight home.
