Arrive in San José, Costa Rica’s capital, and meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a welcome dinner and an introduction to the country’s famous Pura Vida lifestyle. Travel through the lush countryside to meet artisan chocolatiers, discover how they make their delicious produce and learn about Costa Rica’s cacao heritage.

Continue by boat through sheltered waterways and rainforest canals to Tortuguero National Park, staying at the eco-friendly Laguna Lodge. Cruise the park’s canals with a local guide, searching for monkeys, toucans, crocodiles and various other wildlife. Visit Tortuguero village where you’ll later be joined by a local resident from one of the area’s pioneer families to prepare a traditional coconut dessert.

Leave Tortuguero and journey through the Sarapiquí region, visiting a family-owned plantation to taste fresh heart of palm and learn about sustainable agriculture. Continue to Hacienda Pozo Azul for a specially hosted experience before travelling to the Arenal Volcano region, where you’ll walk the famous Arenal Hanging Bridges, offering spectacular views of the rainforest canopy as well as providing opportunities to spot sloths, monkeys and tropical birds.

Travel to the Monteverde Cloud Forest for a guided walk through the home to extraordinary biodiversity, orchids, ferns and towering trees. Later, meet a descendant of the Quaker settlers, who established the community in the 1950s, and hear fascinating stories about Monteverde’s history and culture. Celebrate your final evening with a farewell dinner before transferring from Monteverde to San José
Airport for your return flight home.
