Too often on safaris we feel like we’re ticking boxes. On this in-depth African safari stay, you'll be based for the full seven nights in a luxury lodge in Mabula Game Reserve - surrounding yourself with the wildlife and wilderness of South Africa’s bush. With the Big Five and Little Five on our doorstep, you'll spy all creatures great and small on daily game drives and bush walks - including lion, cheetah, elephant, hippo, rhino and warthog.

✓ Day 1: UK - In flight

✓ Day 2: Johannesburg - Mabula Game Reserve
Just two and a half hours from Johannesburg, Mabula Game Reserve feels like a world away. Home to the Big Five and over 300 bird species, it offers exceptional wildlife encounters alongside stylish comfort. Stay in luxurious thatched chalets designed to bring the outdoors in, and unwind with a swim or a sundowner as you soak up the wilderness surroundings.
✓ Day 3: Mabula Game Reserve
Rising with the dawn chorus, we set off on our first game drive in open-air safari vehicles led by expert guides. Exploring grassy plains, rocky outcrops, and watering holes, we search for wildlife including lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, rhino, and more — even the notoriously feisty honey badger. After time to relax back at the lodge and enjoy a wildlife talk, we head out again in the afternoon for a second game drive, when animals are most active.
✓ Day 4: Mabula Game Reserve
Enjoy a guided lion tracking experience, getting up close with expert rangers to learn about lion behaviour, pride dynamics, and conservation efforts. After lunch, head out on another game drive, keeping an eye out for warthogs, hippos, and giraffes.
✓ Day 5: Mabula Game Reserve
Start the day with a guided bush walk, spotting morning grazers such as impala, giraffe, and ostrich across the open plains. The rest of the day is free to relax at the lodge, whether by the pool, at the spa, or enjoying the surrounding wilderness.
✓ Day 6: Mabula Game Reserve
Enjoy an early morning game drive as the reserve comes alive at sunrise, offering excellent wildlife viewing before the heat of the day. The afternoon is free to relax, followed by an unforgettable stargazing experience under the clear Southern Hemisphere skies, learning about constellations, planets, and local legends.
✓ Day 7: Mabula Game Reserve
Begin the day with a guided bush walk focused on the reserve’s native plants, learning about their healing properties and importance to wildlife and local traditions. The afternoon brings another game drive, offering further chances to spot animals in their natural habitat.
✓ Day 8: Mabula Game Reserve
Enjoy a guided bush walk this morning, looking out for some of the reserve’s 300 bird species, followed by an afternoon game drive. Spend your final evening dining under the stars, sharing highlights and enjoying a farewell drink.
✓ Day 9: Mabula Game Reserve - Johannesburg - In flight
Wake up for one final game drive as the sun rises over the Savannah before transferring to the airport for our flight home.
