Magic of the Nile

Magic of the Nile

Stare in awe at the sheer scale of the temple complexes of Karnak and Luxor. Feel the breeze on our face as you sail the Nile aboard a felucca. Visit the captivating Temple of Philae, painstackingly relocated by UNESCO - piece by piece.

Overview

Sail along the Nile on this river cruise and discover why this mighty river is the lifeblood of Egypt. Journey back in time and wander amongst the sand covered tombs and temples of Luxor, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings and gaze upon an incredible feat of engineering and ingenuity at Aswan High Dam. We’ll watch life unfold along the palm-tree lined riverbanks, take in views across verdant deltas and be astounded by some of the most spectacular ancient wonders of the world.

Itinerary

✓ Day 1: UK - In flight
Titan's nationwide shared chauffeur service collects you from your home for your flight to Luxor.

Day 2: Luxor
Today is a free day to take in the swaying palms and sweeping views across the mighty Nile or take a stroll to the nearby shopping district and wander the eclectic shops.

Day 3: Luxor
Today is free for poolside relaxation, or you can choose an optional excursion to the Dendera temple complex. The honey-hued Temple of Hathor features impressive chambers, crypts and well-preserved hieroglyphs, and is where the ancient Dendera zodiac was discovered.

Day 4: Luxor
This morning you’ll transfer to MS Livingstone for a seven-night Nile cruise. After settling in, an included excursion visits the East Bank of Luxor to explore the Karnak and Luxor temple complexes. Karnak spans over 100 hectares with massive pylons, obelisks and the Hypostyle Hall, while Luxor Temple is equally impressive. You’ll then return to the ship to freshen up before dinner.

Day 5: Luxor - Edfu
Today you’ll explore the West Bank, starting at the Valley of the Kings, with the option to enter Tutankhamun’s tomb (extra charge). The tour also includes Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple and the Colossi of Memnon. You’ll then return to the ship as the cruise continues to Edfu, where you’ll moor overnight.

✓ Day 6: Kom Ombo - Aswan
A serene way to spend the day is sailing the Nile on your river ship. Late this morning you’ll arrive at the Greco-Roman double-temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the falcon-headed Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. After the visit, you’ll return to the ship as it sails on to Aswan.

Day 7: Aswan
Today highlights engineering marvels with a visit to the 111m-high Aswan High Dam and a motorboat trip to the relocated Temple of Philae. The temple is one of Egypt’s most beautiful, and an optional evening light show brings ancient myths to life.

Day 8: Aswan
This morning is at leisure, with time to relax on deck or explore Aswan independently. Alternatively, you can choose an optional excursion to Abu Simbel, built by Ramses II. In the afternoon, you’ll sail by felucca to Kitchener’s Island botanical gardens, a tranquil haven of exotic birds and flowers.

Day 9: Aswan - Edfu
Visit the Nubian Museum this morning, a stunning showcase of Nubia’s history, art and culture. Later, you’ll continue making our way back to Luxor, stopping overnight in Edfu.

Day 10: Luxor
The day is free on board. Drink in the views of the Nile before arriving back in Luxor in the afternoon.

Day 11: Luxor - UK
Transfer back to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
