The Blue Danube River Cruise
Soak up all that Europe’s most cultured river has to offer, with its wealth of grand baroque architecture, medieval cities, picture perfect towns and the sights that inspired Strauss and Mozart.
Overview
From Budapest, the journey begins as the vessel slips its moorings and heads north to Esztergom, where the morning is spent exploring the Basilica and historic centre, once Hungary’s capital. The route then continues westwards to the beautiful old town of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Navigating through Lower Austria, the journey reaches the romantic town of Dürnstein, followed by a visit to the remarkable monastery in Melk.
Soon, the journey arrives in Linz for a guided tour. Alternatively, a scenic drive to Salzburg offers a guided exploration of the old town. Travelling back eastwards, the route reaches classical Vienna, where no visit would be complete without experiencing a classical recital. Finally, cruising into Hungary, the journey returns to imperial Budapest, straddling the picturesque Danube. After a guided tour of this palatial city and a final dinner, a Hungarian folklore show provides an excellent finale to this exceptional and relaxing cruise.
